Veda Hawkins

Ms. Veda Hawkins received her B.S. from Western Michigan University in Family Consumer Science, with minors in Social Work and Criminal Justice. She went on to complete her M.A. from Western Michigan University in Family Life Education.

Prior to joining the IDS advising staff, she was a career developer for Michigan Works, and was an administrator and academic advisor at the Women’s Resource Center, both at Lansing Community College. Other work experiences include non-profit organizations in the areas of outreach, mentoring, and homelessness.  She received a grant from the Abstinence Coalition to work with adolescent girls ages 12 to 17.  Ms. Hawkins has also facilitated on-line courses in the area of health and human service.  She is a proud 2001 TRIO alumni.

Veda enjoys spending time with her husband and three girls, going to local plays and events, volunteering, reading, and finding and cooking new recipes.
